Troubleshooting Software Errors and Crashes
Common Error Types
Our software is built on Microsoft Access, and most errors fall into a few common categories. This guide walks you through resolving each one.
Step 1: Restart and Try Again
Many errors are temporary and caused by a locked file or interrupted process. Close the software completely, wait a few seconds, and reopen it. Try the same action again to see if the error clears.
Step 2: Check for Updates
Older versions of the software may have bugs that have already been fixed. Place a free upgrade order on the website at myk9t.com to get the latest version. Download and install it over your existing copy — your data will not be affected.
Step 3: Run as Administrator
Some errors occur because the software does not have permission to write to certain folders. Right-click the program shortcut and select Run as Administrator. If this resolves the issue, you may want to set it to always run as administrator:
- Right-click the shortcut and choose Properties
- Go to the Compatibility tab
- Check “Run this program as an administrator”
- Click OK
Step 4: Microsoft Access Runtime Errors
If the error message mentions “Microsoft Access,” “runtime,” or “msaccess.exe,” the issue is likely related to the Access Runtime. See our article Installing Microsoft Access Runtime for instructions on installing or repairing it.
Step 5: Repair Microsoft Office
If you have the full version of Microsoft Office (not just the Runtime), a corrupted Office installation can cause errors. To repair it:
- Open Windows Settings > Apps > Installed Apps
- Find Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365
- Click Modify and choose Quick Repair
- If Quick Repair does not help, try Online Repair
Still Getting an Error?
If the error persists after trying these steps, please open a support ticket and include:
- A screenshot of the error message
- What you were doing when the error occurred
- Your Windows version (Windows 10 or 11)
- Whether you are using the Access Runtime or the full version of Microsoft Access
This information helps us troubleshoot and resolve your issue faster.
