Moving the Software to a New Computer

Overview
Moving the software to a new computer involves four steps: installing the software, transferring your data, activating your license, and reconfiguring your email settings.
Step 1: Install on the New Computer
- Log in to your account at myk9t.com
- Go to My Account → Downloads and download the latest version
- Right-click the downloaded file and select Run as Administrator
- Follow the installation prompts
Step 2: Transfer Your Data
Your data is stored in two files:
- myShare — contains your clubs, dogs, and people
- {application name}_data — contains your shows, trials, classes, and entries
The default location is C:\RyKris\{application name and version}\Data
- On the old computer, click the Backup button on the Home page to create a backup
- Copy the data files from the old computer to a USB drive or cloud storage
- On the new computer, place the data files in the Data folder, replacing the sample files that came with the installation
- If the software does not see your data, use the Re-Link button on the ribbon to point it to the correct data files
Step 3: Activate Your License
Your license key needs to be reset before it will work on the new computer. Open a support ticket and we will reset it for you. Then go to Help → License Activation and enter your key.
Step 4: Reconfigure Email Settings
Email and SMTP settings do not transfer automatically. You will need to set these up again on the new computer under Settings → Email.
Verification
After completing the setup:
- Open the About box to confirm the version number
- Check the Shows list and Dogs list to verify your data transferred correctly
- If you only see sample data, re-link to your data files using the Re-Link button
